November is a precious month filled with virtues to celebrate. Work on filling your seasonal home library with books that express gratitude, appreciation, and awe.
Here are some classic examples for a range of ages, elementary through middle school: “Song of Hiawatha” and “A Psalm of Life” by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, “First Thanksgiving of All” by Nancy Byrd Turner, “Simple Gifts” by Aaron Copland, “The Snowstorm” by Ralph Waldo Emerson, “A Bird Came Down the Walk” by Emily Dickinson, “Stopping by the Woods on a Snowy Evening” by Robert Frost. For other resources on building core virtues into your own family library, Core Virtues Foundation offers up excellent resources. It's our duty to cultivate a library of beauty and goodness for our children.
